Terms and Conditions of Use

Sundays:  We have no Sunday office hours and charge a full day rate good until Monday morning. We do not have Sunday morning appointments to keep our guests, staff and neighbours happy with one quiet morning a week.  We ask you not drive in to the pet resort before 12 noon as it will suddenly cause the dogs to react and spoil the peace of the neighbourhood.

Sundays by appointment: We can by appointment release dogs after 12 noon and before 1 pm or after 4 and before 6 pm. However we do charge a full day for Sunday.

Drop offs: We encourage our guests to arrive between the 9 - 11 am check in time, or to request check in or out between 11 and 12 noon Monday to Saturday.  We MUST close at 12 noon and open again after 4 pm.  If you are unable to arrive by 12 noon you must wait until our 4 - 6 pm time.

By way of an explanation about our hours: We want our pet guests to be happy and well adjusted; so they eat and sleep on their first night with us.  We do not want our guests to hear vehicles coming and going outside our public hours.

We need them to run, play and swim and forget about their owners and rid their bodies of all their nervous adrenalin that causes fear, flight and fight responses.  Dogs are like children in a daycare, they immediately personalize a new person or vehicle pulling into the driveway as being there for them.  We like to limit their exposure to strangers and vehicle traffic.

When vehicles come outside our public hours it upsets a large portion of our dog guests and they immediately race to the entry points thinking the vehicle must be for them.

We don't open early because our overnight dog guests and live-on site staff need to start their day relaxed and free of any kind of early morning anxiety.  Our guests are often playing at the crack of dawn and release a lot of energy before the first cars pull into the parking lot at 9 am.  This makes them feel good.  Our staff bath dogs, do basic morning chores and early morning camp sessions, then they shower and prepare to meet the day guests.

We do not release or accept dogs after 6 pm for the same reasons.  Dogs have ran and played together all day.  They are tired.  Their bellies are full with their dinners and they want to sleep.  A car pulling in late makes for an upsetting night as dogs go from their relaxed state into being sure they are going home now.  We can be settling dogs for hours afterwards.  So please, don't ask us to open for you after 6 pm.  If you can't make it on time you will have to make other arrangements and pick your dog up the next day.   We charge a full day for dogs after the 11 am check out to encourage most people not to rush back but to pick up their dogs the next morning.

Why we don't allow people to walk amongst the dogs: Aside from insurance reasons that prevent us from having customers walking in cagefree open dog parks and lodges; we do not want dogs to see strangers coming and going.  Most dogs think strangers are there for them and immediately believe its time for them to go home and it upsets them when they do not go.  We ask you not to go to the solid fences or let dogs see you on the outside of their dog parks as they will fixate on where they saw someone last.  We take dogs through a maze of entry and catch areas and they believe that is the only way out.  They go back and forth from their entry points and extends the distances back into their large dog parks as they relax.  We can not take people through these passage ways as dogs in the dog parks we pass by will see them.  Why do all the dogs need to be upset by a few people who want to walk amongst them?   After so many years doing this, we really want clients who put their dogs and other people's dogs best interests first.  If people do not understand our reasons; there are conventional indoor outdoor kennels where they can walk down corriders and see dogs safely contained in lock ups. They are usually noise and frantic, here with out way of handling our guests, they are not.

Why we encourage you to arrive in the morning public hours: Dogs who travel a long distance; who are shy and nervous, who suffer separation anxiety can be very happy campers if they arrive in our morning check ins.  Those same dogs would find it more difficult to come in the 4 - 6 pm time period.  They do not have the benefit of daytime staff who help them to adjust to their surroundings.  While we live here and do a night check we close at 6 pm and let the dogs settle in for the night.   Our other guests have played all day, have had their dinners, and just want to sleep.  The new dogs can sometimes feel like the last kids picked for a school team.   Area resorts are wonderful in allowing their guests to come in earlier to use their facilities and there are lots of great things to do in Muskoka until you can check into your rooms, plus you avoid the weekend cottage traffic that can extend your travel several hours longer!  And who doesn't want a good reason to play hooky, and start their weekend earlier?

Play Days are $35 and available Monday to Saturday (No Sundays Daycare).  Dogs must be drop off  between 9 - 11 and picked up between 4 - 6 pm on the same day. We are not open between 12 noon and 4 pm.

Great Hound shuttle service is $75 for one way ticket to Vaughn (#7 and #400)  Second dog 50% off shuttle rate.  We can also pick up along the #400 (Cookstown, Barrie, Orilla, and North Bay, and can arrange to pick up dogs near to their cottages.

Packages: We have wallet-friendly 10 and 30 day credit packs that save money!  They do not expire, are transferable to other dogs belonging to you, friends or family. There are no black out dates (as long as you book early) and you do not to pay cancellation fees and can have days reapplied if you return early. Packages are restricted to the type of pet care they were purchased as, and are non-refundable.

Long term Pet Care: We offer an excellent "long-term” special for Canadian Armed Forces,  Canadian Embassy and those who need their dogs to have a home-away from home for a number of months or even a year or two.

Unaltered Males over 6 months pay an additional $20 per day.  Once male puppies reach the age of 6 months they have a change in hormonal smell and other dogs treat them differently.  We must make sure not to have more than one whole male in any dog park at any time unless they are two dogs that live together normally. Whole males can also become fixated on another dog, urinate in the buildings and be directed by their hormones in ways they aren't when not exposed to lots of dogs.

Females in heat are $150 per day.   The critical ovulation period is usually between the 10 to 17th day (when they can conceive). However the hormonal differences in females coming in and out of heat can effect a lot of guests.  The good news is unaltered females who are not in heat are charge at our regular daily rate.
